...is the Police Community Support Officer for mid-Wensleydale. She’s being the job for more than 5 years mostly on foot though she has just taken delivery of a police-issue bike!
What makes mid-Wensleydale such a special place?
It has to be its people…those at Preston under Scar who organise a weekly soup lunch in the village hall, or those in Middleham with their 3-course lunch every week for the “vintage” generation to name just two groups and anyone gets a welcome.
Where is your favourite place round here?
The view of Penhill from Bellerby Bank as I travel to work. Different light at different times of day change the way it looks and when you can’t see it because of low cloud you know you are in for a wet day “on the beat”.
What is the best event to take place in the Leyburn area?
I attend all of them in the course of my work but the one I love the most is the 1940s weekend. The steam trains, the history and Leyburn full of people most of them in costume makes for a magical occasion.
What single piece of information should people have when they visit the area?
North Yorkshire is the safest county in England to live, work in, visit and enjoy, Wensleydale especially. Take precautions when you leave your car, of course but do not be worried.
What’s the best kept secret in the area?
I have three depending how old you are. For the young it’s the play park on the Shawl; for teenagers the skateboard park at Middleham and for the not so young the Bowling Green in Leyburn, hidden behind a large wall and a big green door.
