Following the successful auction of the Tour De France sheep displayed at The Black Swan in Leyburn, local causes are now set to share the sum of £450.
5 local causes will each receive a donation of £90 towards their work.
The chosen causes were Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Leyburn First Responders, Lower Wensleydale Youth Project, The Jonas Centre and Swaledale Mountain Rescue.
Simon Eastwood,(right) Centre Director of The Jonas Centre said “We rely each year on donations to ensure the work we do with underprivileged families can continue. It is only as a result of donations like the one received from The Black Swan that we can continue to bring families to Wensleydale to enjoy the peace and tranquility
Owner of The Black Swan hotel, John Begley (left) said “It’s great that these icons of the Le Grand Depart can now be enjoyed by others whilst benefiting local causes at the same time”.
He expressed his gratitude to Keith Bell (centre) for producing the sheep and to his wife Sue for painting them.
Three of the sheep have remained in Wensleydale with the fourth soon to be displayed at Hunmanby railway station near Filey, in the old waiting rooms.
