Photography Competition 2013 - Terms and conditions (Version 1.0 May2013)
By entering the competition you are deemed to accept these terms and conditions. If you are under 18 years old you must have a parent or legal guardian’s permission to enter.
Competition start and end dates
The Competition will open for entries from Saturday 4th May 2013 and will close at Midnight on Monday 30th September 2013. Entries received after this deadline will not be accepted.
The Leyburn and Mid Wensleydale Business Association (LMWBA) accepts no responsibility for network, computer hardware or software failures of any kind which may restrict or delay the sending of your entry or for entries lost, delayed, misdirected, incomplete or which cannot be entered for technical or other reasons. Proof of entry/ postage is not proof of receipt.
Entry details / Images
The competition is open to all professional and amateur photographers of all ages. Professional photographers must identify themselves as such. All entries must be made using the official entry form which is available to download at www.lower-wensleydale.com or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and stating ‘Capture Wensleydale Entry Form’ in the subject line.
You may use any type of camera, mobile phone or device to create your images. It is highly recommended that you use the highest quality setting your device can achieve. Scans from film or prints are acceptable and may have been taken at any time in the past. Entries may be in colour or in black and white. Images that have been manipulated/ retouched/ edited may be entered but the work must be original and not copies of other people's work.
All entries, whether taken digitally or on film, may be submitted electronically or by post/hand using one of the following methods;
• email to email@example.com and state ‘Capture Wensleydale Competition & ‘your name’ in the subject line,
• provide a link to an online file sharing provider such as, yousendit.com or cloud based storage provider such as, Google Drive, BT, Amazon, Dropbox, Flickr, Sugarsync etc.
• on memory stick, CD or printed format by post/ courier/ hand to ‘Capture Wensleydale’, Newstead House, Thoralby, Leyburn, North Yorkshire DL8 3SZ.
Electronic, memory stick or CD entries must contain JPEG files with a minimum file size of 1Mb but should not exceed 25Mb. Please note: We can not guarantee the safe return of memory sticks or images. You should check your internet service provider terms before sending large files electronically. If delivering your entry by hand it is advisable to ring to check availability before making your journey.
Your image must be taken within the Dales of Wensleydale or Coverdale - your entry details must specify, 1) where the image was taken, 2) identify which category and 3) your name and which age group you would like to enter. If you are unsure which age group you fall into, this should be your age on Monday 30th September 2013, the closing date of the competition.

The age groups are;
• Adult - Professional
• Adult - Amateur
• Junior 12 to 18 years - Professional
• Junior 12 to 18 years - Amateur
• Junior 11 years and under
You can enter an image that has previously been entered into or has won another photography competition. In doing so, you must not be in breach of the terms and conditions of this or any other photography competition.
A £5 entry fee applies for each named individual – you can enter up to three images per entry fee. You may enter as many images as you wish – a separate form is required for each entry fee.
Prizes and judging
The winners of each category will be announced on www.lower-wensleydale.com in October 2013. A team of independent judges from the Wensleydale area will each be assigned a category. They will seek to select three winners per age group but are not obliged to place entries if they do not feel a high enough standard has been achieved. The judges' decision is final and no discussion or correspondence will be entered into in respect of their decision.
The winning images will be chosen to be part of the ‘Celebrating Wensleydale’ exhibition at Wensleydale Galleries, Leyburn. The prize is non-transferable and there is no cash equivalent.
By entering the competition you release LMWBA from and against all claims and damages arising from or in connection with your participation in the competition. You agree to comply with these terms and conditions.
You are responsible for informing LMWBA of any changes to the information you have submitted as part of your entry. You will not submit any photographs that are obscene, vulgar, pornographic, hateful, threatening, racist, sexist, discriminatory, or which otherwise violate any local or international laws. No nudity is allowed. If your image features children and babies they must be wearing undergarments as a minimum and you must have the legal consent of their parent/ guardian for the image to be used and published online or in hard copy. Evidence may be requested to support this. The LMWBA will ultimately decide if something is appropriate and is eligible to be entered into the competition.
Family and relatives of members who are involved, or part of an organisation that is, with the Lower Wensleydale - Aiming High Project may enter this competition but may not be eligible to win a prize. This is at the discretion of the LMWBA.
Copyright and usage
By submitting images to the competition, you accept the terms and conditions and in doing so confirm that:
• Each entry is your original work.
• You own the copyright and any other intellectual property rights of each image.
• You have the permission of those pictured in the image. Where children and babies under the age of 18 years are featured, you are able to demonstrate that the consent of their parent or guardian has been granted. You indemnify LMWBA against any claims made by any third parties in respect of such infringement.
• You have not licensed or granted any rights in the image that would conflict with uses made by entering the competition or through future use by LMWBA.
• You agree to take part in any post-competition publicity.
Entrants retain the copyright of images submitted and, where possible, will be credited. Failure to publish a credit due to error or oversight shall not be deemed a breach of this condition.
By entering the competition, you give LMWBA permission to reproduce, enlarge, publish or exhibit, in any media format, the images. This may include, but is not limited to, publication in news and media, other print such as leaflets and promotional merchandise items, exhibitions and online formats including websites, news, forums and social media outlets such as, Twitter, Flickr, Facebook and You Tube. Entrants details will be stored for the purposes of the competition. By entering the competition, entrants agree that LMWBA can collect, save and use the personal data provided for the purposes of the competition and may be held for future communication about the Lower Wensleydale – Aiming High Project and related activities.
LMWBA reserves the right to cancel or amend these terms and conditions at any time and without prior notice. Any changes will be posted on www.lower-wensleydale.com.
