When it comes to food and drink, the Yorkshire Dales is probably best associated with hearty, no-nonsense, traditional recipes reflecting the hospitality and generosity of the folk who live and work in the area.
The markets in Leyburn and the tables in many of the hotels, pubs and guest houses overflow with quality local produce – and that means there’s plenty here for connoisseurs of fine dining. Many of the kitchens which dot the valley are culinary gems, just waiting to be discovered.
Leyburn’s Gluten Free Kitchen is one business catering for specific tastes while the town’s Little Chocolate Shop is a must for anyone with a sweet tooth.
The Brymoor Ice Cream Parlour at Jervaulx enjoys a reputation far beyond the boundaries of Yorkshire while real ale fans may want to make a beeline for the award-winning Wensleydale Brewery at Bellerby.
